In addition to the default Light theme and a High Contrast theme for accessibility, there is now also a Dark theme for Syl Search users to select from (as seen above).
Tip: Additional configuration of the user interface is also possible via the administration interface.
New quick start guides and Syl Search power user tips to get more out of Syl Search are available as stand-alone PDF documents and are also included in expanded online help, for Syl Search users, administrators and custom language configurators.
Syl Language is the administrative tool used to tune the semantic engine that enables Syl Search to provide much more relevant search results (and certainty to end users that their search term is being used in the correct context) than other search engines.
Syl Language online help has been improved and expanded with more step-by-step examples of defining semantic concepts including te reo Māori language concepts, These examples can be used for kick-starting an organisation's internal discussions about defining and implementing important semantic concept relationships in the Syl Language tool. The examples shown are also downloadable as a custom lexicon file.
A Syl Language-specific Quickstart Guide is also now available as a stand-alone PDF (and included in online help).
For more on incorporating te reo Māori into your search solutions, download this Syl Search Language Overview guide - 'Can your website whakataki?'
If the default Syl Search interface doesn’t suit all your organisation's needs, custom interfaces can be built using the Syl Search REST API. The online help has been expanded with API documentation to make building your own custom User Interface easier. The API guide is also available as a stand-alone PDF document.
There are now comprehensive Knowledge Bases (which include new downloadable PDF guides discussed earlier) available for authorised end users and partners via www.sylsearch.com > Contact > Syl Service Desk
Syl testing has verified that the new Edge (Chromium beta) is compatible with Syl applications and expect full support will be available when Microsoft release their production version. The release notes downloadable PDF and online help include details of all supported and verified browsers.
A new web-based interface provides a simpler installation, reconfiguration, or upgrade of Syl Instances for administrators and implementation engineers. For example the installer can be used to deploy new agents, e.g. for Office365, to allow users to search new data sources.
